Gender Nationality: Man Western Europe (Caucasian)
Age: 27 (would be 28 when entering MBA August 2013)
1) Brief description of your full-time work experience.
1.5years in internal Audit for a big brokerage firm. always really good reviews but probably dont want a recommendation there because it was not a field I enjoyed so much so it is not what i want to emphasize.
1 year (will be ~ 2years when entering if admitted): Equity Analyst (the only one) at ~150-200M Hedge Fund (stellar record but not great or bad since i moved here). only 3 people in the fund, an administrative coordinator, the president and portfolio manager and me so a lot of responsibilities. I also coordinate all of the compliance obligations due to my auditing background. I am actually registered with the SEC as the CCO but I believe this to be meaningless in this case due to size of our operations.
2) Your GMAT: 720
3) College info: The name of the college, your GPA or grade average, your major, year of graduation. For any graduate degrees, please provide the same info. If you grades are low, please indicate if there were extenuating circumstances.
BA interdisciplinary studies ==> lots of econ and political science
College: top public in US (Michigan, Berkeley, Virginia)
GPA: 3.15 (low) with an F in a non major class because I decided not to write the exam which will probably have to be explained
CFA level 2 maybe 3 pending results
4) Significant college and post-college extra-curricular activities or community service, especially leadership experience.
- 3 years captain and player ranked highly nationally in a non major varsity sports. few awards in this sports including one being best GPA in my team which is not so telling due to my low GPA
- took part and organized a couple of fundraising events to ensure program viability.
- volunteer coach for 1 year while finishing up my degree
- 1+ year part of a program that had helped inner city kids to their homework as well as teach them my sport (once a week)
- 1 full semester mentoring 1 inner city kid directly at his school
- upon graduation I initially was taking part of similar extra curricular activities until my schedule didnt allow me to do so anymore due to CFA and busy work schedule.
6) Your target programs
In order: Columbia, Booth, Wharton (tier 1); UCLA, NYU (tier 2) may also take a shot at one of HBS or SGSB
7) Your post-MBA goal: Love what I do (investment management)
