Hi Stacy, thanks for doing all this.
I'm a 25 year old white male.
Test scores (GRE)- 169V (99%) 168Q (97%) 5 W (92%)
GPA: 3.6 in finance from a public university (UT Austin/U. Illinois level)
Good grades in difficult finance classes, 5 on AP Calc test, 3.7 in microecon and 3.5 intermediate micro (much more difficult and calculus based).
ECs: Study abroad in eastern Europe (political science and economics program), volunteer a non-profit that works with kids in homeless shelters (for a while now, not just a b-school padder), starting volunteering recently to tutor kids (probably won't be worth much since I just started, but I swear I don't do it just for how it looks on an application), volunteered at YMCA, and a prominent First Nation foundation in Seattle.
WE: 1 year in a small business (in a not sexy industry) where I started on the very bottom, but ended up doing some interesting things and even managed to get a little managing/leadership experience.
2 years at a top biomedical research university doing research accounting and administration. If I don't get in to any b-schools I will be moving to a company with more upwards mobility as where I work is notorious for people holding on to their jobs until they die.
My ideal post MBA career path is working in a biotech/biomedical company on the financial analysis/financial manager side, then translating that experience in to working with start ups in the industry.
My WE is by far my weakest side, is there anyway a top school will overlook it considering my relative young age at application? Am I just totally kidding myself looking at top 10 schools? H/S/W are out I know, what about Sloan?
