I recently took the GMAT for the first time. I got a 640. I plant to apply to USC, UCI and UCSD. I was wondering what are my chances I can get into those schools. I score within the 80% range for all of those.

Profile:
GMAT: 640
GPA: 3.05 (was taking loads of classes almost 250 units worth)
Double Major: Psychobiology and Economics
University Graduated: UCLA
Experience: 2 year working experience in education sector
Volunteer: tons
Extracurricular: in many clubs and held positions
Won internship for my school's newspaper department

I think your work experience being on the lighter side combined with the GMAT on the lower side makes this a bit challenging along with the GPA on the lighter side but still see UCI and UCSD as possibilities- especially if you are applying R1 next year. If you are applying now, it is always a bit harder in later rounds. You could use the time between now and R1 in fall to retake GMAT and see if you can get it up a bit and that will likely pay big dividends for you. Best of luck!

I am interested in a career in either the finance or consulting sector. I have spent the last 2 years as a substitute teacher.

Thanks for sharing your profile. I think USC will be tough with your lower GPA and GMAT for this school. I think for the other schools you will be in play with your profile. USC is worth a shot but be prepared to put your best foot forward here.
