Hi dstechm87:
To be completely honest, I am not exactly sure what your "approach" consists of. A significant part of this is not actually knowing what you are trying to achieve. I do not have any insight into your goals, nor do I understand what your application strategy is beyond the fact that you are applying to a top 10 MBA program. Additionally, I have no insight into what you may have written about in your essays. So I cannot give you any specific tips into what you can do to increase your candidacy. Did you even take the GMAT yet?
What is done is done with respect to your undergraduate percentage. The longer you work, the less the admissions committee will weigh your work experience. Without really knowing anything about your background, I can tell you that you should probably work longer. Right now, you may be viewed as being slightly mature and unsophisticated in the subject matter he write about. If you spend a lot of time justifying your poor undergraduate performance or your "easy software job", I know that you will definitely be viewed as sophomoric.
I am not sure if you have a really clear idea which want to do with an MBA. This is what they expect from someone with only 15 months of work experience. This is what I assume given that you have not even told me what your goals are in your original post. So come up with some salient goals, and let me know what they are. Then I can politically address some of things you could possibly do to increase your chances at a top 25 US program.
Respectfully,

Hi
I am a 24 yr old Indian Male currently working IT Sector having 15 Months of Experience. Would be grateful if you could provide me a profile Eval/Career Advice.
My Existing Profile is as Follows
GPA 6.1/10(61%) in Mechanical Engineering from N.I.T Jalandhar (belonging to a list of prestigious state sponsored schools)
GRE 800Q + 610V AWA 4.0 (will prolly be obsolete by the time i submit my BSchool App) TOEFL 100
A certificate in software testing from ISTQB and two internships in manufacturing companies.
I have a pretty average-below average undergrad score (wasnt serious enough coupled with a department high of 8/10). Although I did everything to get into a core job, I couldnt and had to satisfy with a poorly paid easy software job
My ultimate aim is to pursue MBA in US from a top 10-20 college(I am excluding top 10 coz my undergrad being so horrible they wont consider me anyway and m not a genius to develop something overnight or too risk averse to go down the entrepreneurship bandwagon
I am currently applying to MEM(Duke, Cornell CWRU) and IE (NCSU VTech and TAMU) programs in US with the hope that
1. i would study hard there.. manage a >3.5 GPA there and improve my academic credentials for MBA app, gain international work ex.
2. Also working in US would help me fund the MBA with the dollar paycheck, also since i would have close to 3-5 yrs of experience).
Do you think its a correct approach?? Also could you give me some tips as to how i can improve the likelihood of admit, also to a top 10 school
