Good day All,

Please let me know about my chances a little bit more: 29 years, GMAT 740 (Q-50, V-39), 4 years of BB IB bank, 2 year leading VC (deals in US/Israel), BS and MA from top-3 russian universities, Russian.

Targeting MBA in Entrepreneurship/VC - MIT - Stanford - Berkeley - Harvard. Is it possible to be admited to this shools for russian in 3-ed round? or better apply next year?

Hello jonykobrin

That is a very good score, congratulations!

But there seems to be an inherent reluctance within B-Schools to admit international students in the last rounds; one reason to this is the insufficient time to obtain the required visa. Plus B-Schools, before starting the selection process, device a hypothetical class that hey want and most of that hypothetical class is filled in the initial rounds which leave very few places in the end. Schools prefer to fill these places with local students.

Nevertheless, answering your specific question, in my opinion, wait until admissions start in August 2017. You can then go to ANY school you like.

Please feel free to get in touch for assistance with your essays and application.

Looking forward!

Dude!
You have a very good profile so far from what I can see (although I need a LOT more detail, especially about the extras), but it's true that R3 is a no-go. I mean why would you want to anyhow? You have SIGNIFICANTLY less chances... and you only just started working

So, be a bit patient, and make a plan for R1 next year -

Insider tip: Use your vacation to actually VISIT the schools you will apply to.

It can help more than you would expect, and in so many ways.

Best,
Jon

You have a fantastic profile here that your schools listed will certainly be very interested in. Your question is really about R3 which is really tough and if you are unable to secure admission in R3 it pushes back any reapplicant plans for these schools until R2. Also given this will be the second time these schools will be seeing you application it puts an intense emphasis to an improved version. So I would suggest given the low odds in R3, holding off till R1 and giving yourself the best chance of success

Hey!
Most of round 3 admits are used to fill any gaps that the admission committee might feel that they have in the incoming class. Though it’s difficult to predict what a particular class is missing, the general strategy is to look at your profile and take a call on how unique your profile is and if there is some really stark achievement that stands out.
You have a great profile and good GMAT score. Therefore, we will echo what others said and strongly recommend applying to the target schools next year. You would be ready for R1 and can make the most of the time available to enhance your profile and develop a stellar essay.

Jony,

Thank you for the profile information. While I would rather see you go next year vs wait another year, as mentioned above, round three is tough and I don't see great chances of getting into those schools. That said, this is a good time to start your applications for the fall! Especially for Stanford since they will mostly likely have the same questions next year. While your stats and experience are good, now it comes down to telling the story in the right way. For instance, what kind of deals have you worked on and are you planning to have a specific focus before you apply?

Best,
Scott
