a) 2 years as a hedge fund analyst at top hedge fund (~$10bn fund with distressed debt / special situation focus) in NYC
b) 2 years as an M&A/restructuring investment banking analyst at elite boutique in NYC

2) GMAT:


3) College info:

Queen’s University (transferred from another top Canadian university with high international ranking)
Queen’s GPA: 3.76
Cumulative GPA: 3.70
Major: Commerce (Finance concentration)
Year of Graduation: 2008

4) Extracurricular experience:

a) Founder/President of Technology Club
b) Founder/Vice President of Case Competition Club
c) Founder/Vice President of Entrepreneurial Society
d) Coach for Commerce Crew Team

a) 1st place in 2 Canadian national university case competitions, 2nd in another
b) Leadership Award given from initial University for being most involved student
c) Whole host of other extracurricular activities but with less significant titles (director/low executive positions)

Post University
a) Founder/President of Canadian national mentorship program for business students (over 200 students and 50 mentors across several universities)
b) Founder/Chief Operating Officer of international clothing startup (grossed >$1m revenue, featured on major news channels / papers, operating in three countries)
c) Founder/President of an IBD focused mentorship program partnered with a head hunter organization (helping 30 selected candidates annually)
d) Board member for local NYC charity

6) Target programs:

Harvard / Stanford / Wharton / Colombia

7) Post-MBA goals:

Join a hedge fund in an associate role

Hi FrankyB,

You have a very strong application and there is no reason why the programs you listed will not consider your candidacy. Remember though that all of the reasons why a top program will admit you are in the details of your work experience, personal experiences, personality, values and overall story. Do not underestimate the importance of your personal essays and recommendations.
