I plan to apply to the NYU Stern Part-time program, specialization in Banking and Accounting, start Fall 2013.
My stats:
Male/30 yrs old/US Citizen born in New York
GMAT 600 (40Q, 32V)
Undergraduate GPA, from a Private University in NYC:
B.B.A Finance 3.15
Received some lower marks during my first two years of undergrad while taking courses at a local community college and also a few C's while at the 4 year school. This will all be explained in the optional essay. Grade trends improved incrementally over the last 2 years of studies as I got into the major courses. Further, I was a full time student working full time in a business development role throughout college and I remained focused. I also took Financial Accounting I and II again last year at NYU-SCPS and received A's in both courses.
I was employed full time while in college therefore I did not have many EC's during college. The year before undergrad, I attended an overseas exchange program.
I am a recipient of Culinary Arts Degree. This was completed prior to business undergraduate studies. I plan to explain my passion for the arts within my personal statement.
EC's after college: community work, organized hurricane sandy cleanup projects, tutored high school students for state exams in math, fund raising for marathons and triathlons, helped former classmate with financial modeling for his start up tech company. (this project was performed on a volunteer basis).
Post-MBA: continue and seek management position in commercial banking, possibly expanding into business origination for an international financing unit.
Work experience: Total of 8.5 years professional business experience
while in college- 3.5 years as an account manager at a global luxury goods import/export firm
post undergrad- 5 years commercial finance experience. (1 year at large scale domestic bank and 4 years at Middle Market International Bank). Several promotions and now at VP portfolio management level on managerial track.
Great professional recommendations. Division Head is a Stern alumnus and will be writing one of my letters of recommendation.
Strong essays and personal statements.
I am scheduled to retake the GMAT during the 1st week of June and aiming for at least
