Linda,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

My short term career goal is work for a strategy consulting company so I can gain experience in the operations of many manufacturing companies.
Then I would like to return to the family business and use my experience to developing my family business.
In addition, I would like a prestigious school and an international alumni because I believe it will help me in the future especially when I plan to take the family business public at the end of the decade.
VC is also interesting for me because we have real estate investments which I would like to diversify into VC funding especially since I am based in Bangalore which is India's innovation capital. I have deliberately not added my extensive experience in real estate because I don't want to sound confused to the adcoms.

However, I have picked Kellogg due to its strong strategy focus, Ross due to its location(close to detroit) and class profile and CMU tepper as a safe school. I would like to apply to the top 5 schools but I am not sure if its worth my time applying as I may not get in.

Your thoughts please.

Thank you.

Your experience is impressive and qualitatively very strong. It is quantitatively a little less than average for Ross and Kellog, and that could be a problem. I think you should try for a couple of programs, like MIT Sloan or Stanford, or HBS, but just be realistic and don't set your heart on them. The competition is fierce. On the other hand, if you don't try you have no chance of getting in. Those would be fantastic programs for you.

I don't know how my of my posts you have read, but I spend a lot of time discouraging people from applying to the schools I just encouraged you to apply to. There are no guarantees, but I don't think it would be a waste of your time.

Best,
Linda

Linda,

Thanks again for your reply. I will surely apply to at least 2 of those.
