30 yo Asian male
EDUCATION:
Graduated from top 30 U.S. University in 2003
Major in Economics 3.3 GPA
710 GMAT

EXPERIENCE
2003-2005 Undergoing physical therapy from illness
2004 (4 months) Worked part time as a research assistant for a well known Medical School
2005 ( 1 year) Worked part time as an intern for a start up investment bank

2006-2007 (1.5 years) Equity Research Associate at a well known Middle Market International Bank until downsized
2008 (10 months) Equity Research Associate at a well known Middle market bank until downsized
2009-2010 (1 year 10 months) Private Equity Associate at an unknown lower middle market shop
2011- current (7 months as of now) Associate at an early stage M&A shop founded by a guys who ran a division of a bulge bracket bank

Extracurricular
Advanced Ballroom dancing, Brazilian Jui Jitsu
Member of NYC Cares Volunteer Organization

Hello my friend. Happy to offer up some thoughts here--and sorry to be a couple days late.

Honestly bro...Jiu Jitsu? Awesome stuff. I love your well rounded profile.

Now, you are a taaad older than some schools would like to see. But Im not worried about it.

One bigger challenge that I can see my friend is LEADERSHIP. Do you have it? I see that you have contacts at HBS which is great but...do you have any real leadership experience? I cant quiiite tell from your background. If yes, you should sail into some of the programs youve listed. The safer ones for sure. The stretches will be, well, tough of course. But Id also look at UCLA as a safety, and Id consider LBS. Great finance resources...

Hi JDF,

Thanks for the reply. What would you consider leadership experience? Can you give examples of some of your past clients, examples that may seem more ordinary? I just feel like have not done anything meaningful.

By leadership we mean just that: leadership.
What is starts with is of course management. So if you are leading a team that's a good start. If not then we look for mentoring, team-building, leading trainings, motivational sessions. We also look for leadership outside of work: Military is a GREAT place to get some leadership, but it's not the only. School Government, politics, religious areas, volunteerwork, sports, and community service are all great places to get leadership out in your profile, as, of course, is entrepeneurship.
