Hi Abhimanyu,
I would be happy to review your profile. Admissions committees will look at your profile holistically, analyzing your stats, work experience and extracurriculars.
Stats – you have a great GMAT score of 730, and it is impressive you increased your score so much from your first test to your second test. The average score for your demographic is closer to 750 but you are not too far below, and the GMAT is only one part of the application.
Work experience – it is definitely okay that you have a background in architecture, and I see it as a way that you can differentiate yourself. No matter what your professional background is, you will have to demonstrate your accomplishments and the impact you made at work, through taking initiative and demonstrating you have progressed. A promotion is good, although any increase in responsibility and leadership looks favorable, as is coaching/training/mentoring others. One challenge will be convincing admissions committees why your 3 years of work experience compares to the average admitted student’s work experience which is generally 5 years. They will want to know why it makes sense for you to get your MBA now as opposed to gaining a few more years in the workplace.
Extracurriculars – it is great that you are an active member of that non-profit. It is important to show leadership in that role though. If you can show that you have taken initiative to make a difference there, the admissions committees will feel that you will also contribute positively to the school’s community.
The schools you listed are very competitive and turn away very qualified applicants every year simply because there is not enough space for all of them. Without knowing more about you, it is tough to gauge your chances. For example, what you have done at work, how you have interacted with others there, who you are as a person, what your life stories are, etc. are all important aspects in analyzing your chances at a specific school. In general, though, I like the idea of you applying to 2 reach schools, 2 target schools, and 2 safer schools.
