Hello,

My GMAT stats are
Overall : 710
Quants : 50(89 percentile)
Verbal : 35(74 percentile)
IR : 8
AWA : Awaiting
Undergraduate Studies:
Instrumentation and Control Engineering with a GPA of 8.69/10 from one of the premier engineering schools of India.
I speak english well but though the verbal scores are not great. Scored 1360/1390 in the TOEIC test.
Work Experience: : Automation Engineer
I have worked in the green field project of an MNC in the manufacturing sector for 2.5 years now but i am applying only for batch starting in 2015 so i am looking at 4 years of work experience at the time of joining. Out of these 2.5 years, I spent 1.5 years in US for on the job training. Since my company is in a startup phase, i also happen to interact with a lot of foreigners.
I am interested to pursue MBA in the field of finance. I am a CFA level-2 candidate for June 2014.
Extra curricular:
I was a member of the placement committee in my undergrad college. Good amount of team work is involved in that.
Won event related to puzzle solving in our techfest.
Like swimming, cooking and reading books.
My biggest disadvantage I feel is lack of extra-curriculars. Since ill be preparing for CFA level 2 exam, I dont see it improving in the future also. Please advice me on that.
Request you to evaluate my profile and suggest some schools if possible. I am interested to study finance and hence request you to suggest some schools with good focus on finance. Personally, I want to study finance so much so that i'm even considering taking up other finance courses like FRM to strengthen my knowledge and profile. It is just under consideration so obviously it is not part of my profile yet. I just wanted to share that i'm inclined to go towards finance.
I really want to pursue 2 year MBA so that I can do my home work in finance well and be prepared for a career in that.
I really would like to go to Booth,Chicago (because of its huge focus on quants and finance) but i feel its too ambitious. Other schools I am thinking of applying to are Rotman,NUS, ISB. Though NUS is not a two year program, I've heard NUS is good for finance. What other schools in US or elsewhere do you think would be good for me?
Thanks.
Hello there good sir,
From what you wrote here, your profile seems pretty good. You have a lovely GMAT, have made some progress with the CFA, and have an excellent GPA. That's the backbone of your application, and it should be strong. It's a bit hard for me to tell you precisely where you might fit, cause I am really missing info on your work experience. I'd say though overall, probably schools ranked 10-30 are your range.
Specifically for finance I would recommend: NYU, Tepper, Johnson, UNC to begin with.
They all have excellent finance placements whilst not being as hard to get into as Top 10 schools.
Hope this helps!!
