It would be really helpful if you could also comment your insights on my chances of acceptance for: ISB, Columbia, LBS and Judge. Thanks a lot, in advance!
Hey,
As you are preparing for
MBA, I would really to tell you that for Top B-Schools like
Insead, Columbia, LBS, you really have to give a
GMAT.
You have not mentioned anything about GMAT so I am considering you must not have taken that yet. So, I would recommend you to start preparing for GMAT.
GRE is more focused on MS Degree, so
it really doesn’t matter in your case as you are going for MBA.
So, in my opinion, the GMAT appears to be
required for a business programme abroad. Especially in a country like the
United States, where a Masters degree means much more than a degree. Some major institutes, however, do not require you to submit a GMAT score. They are, of course, fewer in number. Working graduates who do not want to put in the extra effort of taking a standardised test prefer these institutes. And, by far, the
educational quality at any of the aforementioned business schools is exceptional. In fact, Kellogg offers an Executive MBA programme that does not require a GMAT score.
Here are the best schools across countries that
don't require a GMAT score:
USAUniversity of Seattle
Adelphi University
California Miramar University
Canada
University of Regina
Brock University
University of Saskatchewan
UKUniversity of Leeds
King's College London
University of Manchester
Now, these institutes might not require a GMAT score but there are
other requirements that you must fulfil like a minimum
bachelors' GPA, IELTS/TOEFL Score etc.
You should check your overall profile and get an idea if you match all the other requirements if you wish to skip the GMAT.
Other than that you have a decent profile, and Academically, you have a good marks which showcases your academic power. While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavours matter as well because AdComs are looking for applicants with
holistically developed profiles.
Not only this your
work experience also plays an important role in your application process. As far as your work experience goes, since an MBA is a manager's degree and requires significant work experience, your 3+ years of work experience would be decent. In order to stand out from the crowd, you most certainly should focus on your GMAT and major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Since you have some big brands like Dell in your work experience, this will definitely benefit you and showcase an equally competitive profile.
Extracurricular + Achievements: Your extracurriculars are decent. It definitely showcases your hard-working skills as you have won several medals.
You just need to make a killer application highlighting all your skills explaining why you are the perfect candidate.
Make your application unique so that it stands out of the crowd.
