Let total distance = x
Travel TIME with different speeds = (5/30) + (x-5/60) = x+5/60

If speeds was 60 through out the journey, TIME = x/60

Percentage greater = [(x+5/60 - x/60) / x/60 ] * 100 = 500/x

Travel time at constant 60 mph = x miles / 60 mph

Travel time for 5 mile section = 5 miles / 30 mph = 1/6 hr
Travel time for remainder = (x - 5) miles / 60 mph = x/60 - 1/12 hrs
Total time - x/60 - 1/12 + 1/6 = x/60 + 1/12

Difference of travel times = (x/60 + 1/12) - x/60 = 1/12
% difference = (1/12)/(x/60) * 100 = 500/x
