This post was
BOOKMARKED
1. Q101 in OG states that "Being" is not always wrong.
2. Q65 in verbal review states that such as = example and like = similar to idiom is not valid
3. GMAT prep test has a question today where the idiom not only ... but also ... was the wrong choice and the right one had but also (without the not only...)

go figure ...!!!

Read Ron Purewal's explanations on those questions at ManhattanGMAT forum's. They will explain you that being sometimes might be correct on GMAT and that basic phrase is not... but... . So you do not always need also. And, in questions where you are confused, sometimes parallelism is broken, that is why not.. but.. combination may be incorrect.

I am sure there must be other errors due to which the others choices are preferred. These are just pay-special-attention kind of tips, but do not guarantee that you will always get the right answer if you only pay attention to these tips.
