Q44, V 32 - 630

I just took my first practice test (second time for quant, last time with GMATPREP and it was also at 44...), and I scored way lower than what I'm aiming for and I'm freaking out. Please help!

I'm taking my test in 2.5 weeks and aiming for 700, and at least a 48 on Q. What can I do to boost my score between now and then? A specific plan is much appreciated.

I already did the MGMAT number properties and WT. I'm waiting on my books for MGMAT SC and the powerscore CR bible. I'm planning to take all 6 of the MGMAT CAT exams, 2 Kaplan exams, and the GMAT PREP one more time.

Please help! I'm so desperate.

Hi Knabi,

I strongly suggest to use your time wisely by reviewing the types of mistake you've done on you past practice CATs: you can learn A LOT by reviewing your errors on both the Quant and Verbal. Personally, I found this powerful particulalry for the verbal.

So go ahead and review your SC, CR, and RC and decide on the processing strategy that WORKS FOR YOU and then do TARGETED review of the content/concepts that pose problem.

For Quant, see what are the easy problems that you get wrong or the careless mistakes. If you get all questions at your ability level right thats great. Decide also which questions are tough for you and move to educated guess within 2mn.

In short, focus on REVIEW and STRATEGY for test day.

The best option is to understand your weaknesses and hopefully cover them up. It is not clear from Q44, what you need to do. It may have to do with timing or something completely different. There is no magic pill to go from 44 to 48 unless you know what specifically needs to be addressed.

Also, if you are planning to cover MGMAT SC and MGMAT CR and 6 tests in 2.5 weeks, I would suggest that you reschedule your test while you still can. I'd give it at least a month or better 6-8 weeks.

Thank you so much BB, but I can't take the test later than the 26th. I'm basically getting 50% of the PS and DS 600-700 1:40 and 30% at 700-800 2:40.

So, do you mean I should review in depth the topics, or focus on practicing more questions? Should I consider hiring a tutor at this point? Thanks.

I read an article from Jeff Sackmann, in which he mentioned how to practice for GMAT. The point which was an attraction for me was this: " After doing a practice test, review every single problem, go through the explanations of wrong answers & after that do the test again. Yeah, Do it Again!!. Then you will gain something new".

I loved this approach. Try this & let us know if it works.
