It is based on the modulus concept:
Equality will hold if (a-b) & (a-2b) are of the same sign. If (a-b) & (a-2b) are of different sign then LHS=RHS. So, basically, we have to find relative sign of (a-b) & (a-2b).

(1) b=3 so. (a-3) and (a-6) Now depending on value of a both quantities can be -,- ; +,- ; or +, +.
So we don’t know hence, options D and A ruled out

(2) (a-b) < 0 But. (a-2b) can be both positive and negative depending on value of b. So, option B ruled out.

(Combined) Given (a-3) < 0. So (a-6) will also be negative. Implies both quantities are negative which means equality will hold. So, we have an answer.

I think answer is (C) 😊

1) more than 6 dollars on oranges. We know that it cannot be 10 dollars on oranges, as she purchased at least one apple. Therefore the only possible combination is 8 dollars of oranges, and 2 dollars of apples.
2) Clearly NS. Consider the case of 2 dollars on oranges. and 8 on apples or the reverse.
