Hey Guys can anyone help me figure this question out?: "Malik’s recipe for 4 servings of a certain dish requires 1one halfcups of pasta. According to this recipe, what is the number of cups of pasta that Malik will use the next time he prepares this dish?

(1) The next time he prepares this dish, Malik will make half as many servings as he did the last time he prepared the dish.

(2) Malik used 6 cups of pasta the last time he prepared this dish." It is a D.S

I answered A, but the correct asnwers C. Can anyone help me understand what I am missing!

In A, there’s no we know how much servings he made last time. The premise only gives us information about the ratio required, it doesn’t mention anything about his “last preparation”. So, A is insufficient.

B says last time he made 6 servings, but this time or at current we still don’t know how many he’s going to make.

Together, bingo!

So, answer is C.

*no way we know

The question asks for number of cups that Malik will use the NEXT time. With A, we don’t know how many servings he made the last time. Hence, Not Sufficient. With B, we can figure out that last time he used 6 cups hence, number of servings is 16. Again, we don’t have sufficient information to answer for the next time. Clubbing A and B together, we get our answer 😇

If I understand correctly it’s asking whether the line passes through (-2/3,1/2)? Given : line has slope of (3/4)

Using Y = MX + C
M = 3/4
From 1 ... (4,4) .... 4 = (4)*(3/4) + c .. c= 1
Now, put values of (-2/3,1/2) in eqn ... 1/2= (-2/3)*(3/4) + 1 ...this is true ... sufficient
Same for 2....
(-4,-2) ... -2 = (-4*3/4) + c .... C is 1
Put the values and again it will satisfy the eqn ... sufficient

Answer is D

You don’t have to check the whether the point passes or not, just having the value of c suffices

Best way to go about this is: Total combinations - combinations of choosing 3 consecutive students.

Total combinations is: 20C3 = 1140

Choosing 3 consecutive students:

Now, how many consecutive 3-student groups can be picked out from 20?

20/3 = 18. So there are total 18 consecutive 3-student groups.

Thus, 1140 - 18 = 1122. Answer D.

Today I took my 5th practice test, despite my last scores consistently increasing to Q49, today I scored only Q40. Also my Verbal score dropped significantly due to anxiety of not performing well on Quant. Did anyone else face the same issue and how to overcome this?

My verbal performance on the 6th (final practice test) mock was very bad. Got low 30s. Until then, scored consistently scored 41-44 on all mocks. Was shocked. Then systematically prepared until the final exam. Scored 41. So, don’t get disheartened. Keep at it.

The number of testtakers comment about the wild swings and a lower scores on the last two GMAT prep tests. If you notice and look at the number of mistakes, usually you actually would have as many or even fewer. My theory is that in big part that is because the last two tests contain very few hard questions and as the result any mistakes harshly penalized… Focus on your mistakes for these two tests don’t worry about the score as much

unfortunately these two tests are less reliable as the result
