Hi all,

First post here. I love the forum and it's been a great guide.

I'm having a hard time on primes/ divisibility DS questions. Does anyone have any knowledge on the distribution of topics within the Quant section?

I'm trying to decide if I should move on for now and cover the other topics and re-address later. Planning on a GMAT test day of DEC 7.

Hi TheKraken,

You should not leave these topics for a later state. They are very important for GMAT. A lot of questions on GMAT come from Number properties and these are the essentials of number properties.

To improve I would suggest that you clear up your basics first( read MGMAT book or GMAT Maths book for this) and start will low level questions ( sub 600) and then go up the difficulty line.
Remember, nothing is difficult; its all about how you look at the questions..

Good luck

Thanks, crackgmatg. Just went through MGMAT book. I think it's a matter of just doing the practice. I will start with the lower DS and then go up.

If you are struggling with primes/divisibility on DS - note there are some frameworks you can use to approach these that will make it a little easier when you are presented with a similar question with a slight variation.

You may find several divisibility examples and prime number examples here:

In the 600 range - divisibility is certainly a commonly tested concept - along with sum of sequences and algebra - so do make an effort to be familiar with it.
