Very cool approach and in general it shows real situation. Look at Stanford :o

I bet if Stanford had a class size like the schools above it, it would be right up there.

I think this is a fair indicator. As suggested, things like class size, and school history also plays a part. For example, Fuqua (#12 on your list) only started in 1970 with a class size of 20.

I highly doubt there are many consultants included in those numbers graduated pre-1980. Those numbers are probably very heavily weighted to recent grads since very few people stay at the big firms for more than several years.

I've taken the same numbers and divided by class size to control for that factor. There are a few others that cannot be controlled for - career goals, interests, location preferences, etc.

School MBB #/AVG Class Size/Ratio
1) HBS 909 900 101%
2) Wharton 710 817 87%
3) Kellogg 584 700 83%
4) Stanford 304 370 82%
5) MIT 301 392 77%
6) Tuck 162 240 68%
7) Booth 307 580 53%
8) HAAS 122 245 50%
9) Michigan 221 488 45%
10) NYU 133 392 34%
11) Columbia 369 1278 29%
12) Duke 120 440 27%
13) Darden 91 339 27%
14) UCLA 79 360 22%
15) Cornell 55 278 20%
16) Yale 43 230 19%
