Thanks for the kind words! No plans yet for a 2nd edition, but hopefully it will happen in the next couple of years.

I don't have hard facts to back it up (I don't know of any school that publishes its acceptance rate by round), but all of my experiences and all of my sources -- including people who have worked in admissions offices -- tell me that there really is no difference.

Keep in mind that more people apply in R2 than in R1 every year. More importantly, schools know this and plan accordingly. They don't want to "binge" in the first round and then have to pass up great applicants in R2. Their standards don't really chage. Once you get to R3, their standards do change because by that point their classes are mostly filled. But they still have PLENTY of room in R2.

So, don't worry about it! The best thing yo ucan do is put forward the best application you can. Trust me on this... Don't worry about gaming the system!
