I'd go with A.

B. and is unncessary. I'd prefer having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past 20 years than having amassed a wealth of knowledge about the brain

C. and is unncessary.

D & E. missing "are"

easy A.

D, E are out for not having a verb ('are' is required)
B, C out for having 'and' (remove the sentence inbetween commas and with remaining parts, you should be able to form a sentence.
