Hi RBiscoe,
There is no fast and easy rule about it. It depends on a few factors. Also school admissions team change each year and sometimes the new personnel or the change in admissions landscape will also affect its admissions practice. So we do not believe making a list of these schools is the effective way to go about it. Rather, determine the list of schools you are interested in and might be a good fit for you. Then email or call us for additional assessment.
A rule of thumb. School visits are always good, especially when you can leverage on the experience to connect with the reason why you choose this particular program. However, if the acceptance rate is very low and the school is top-ranked, then school visits are merely a small component in the entire package. The strength of your application including your intelligence, willpower, past track record, future plans becomes more important. After all, they are selecting the best candidates, not the most eager candidates.
For the schools a bit further down the list, how determined you want to join the program becomes more of an important factor. One basic reason is that no school wants to get turned down after sending out admissions letters to students. The acceptance rate is important to the school.
