Hi Aditi_03,

Two things that can really hurt your section score are getting easy questions wrong and definitely leaving a question unanswered. So, in this case, leaving that question unanswered likely was a big reason for your lower score.

Could this one 'Not Answered' question be the only potential reason behind such a huge fall in percentile? Or there are other factors which I'm unable to recognize?
Hi Aditi_03,

It may be possible to get a Q79 with only 2 mistakes, but yes, there is a penalty for not finishing a section.

Hi All,

I gave my first GMAT recently and am a bit curious about my Quant results (Score: 79, Percentile: 59th).

Please refer the attached snip to understand my accuracy level for the test. I got only 3 questions incorrect and was expecting a relatively high score. However, while attempting the last question, I quickly selected the option but could not click 'Next' due to lack of time. I incorrectly assumed that the response would be saved for this question. Could this one 'Not Answered' question be the only potential reason behind such a huge fall in percentile? Or there are other factors which I'm unable to recognize?
The algorithm is made to factor in each one of the 21 questions. When you miss one, the penalty is huge. Also, the last few questions could be the easier ones.
I strongly recommend to all my learners that one must be able to see the "review and edit" window in each section. Also, keep enough time for the last few questions too, since they could be easy. Though every question is important but ensure that one does not make any careless mistakes in the first few (best is to not make any careless mistakes at all, but double back in the first few). If one is struggling with some question, just bookmark and move on. Pacing is very important on Focus.
