I took GMAT 2nd time this past Friday and got 640(q40/v38). I took it for the 1st time a month ago and got 620(q41/v35). A 20 point improvement is good, but I was trying to get 650 or better. The 2nd time around I took a more balanced approach to my studying. Specifically, I gave equal study time to quant and verbal. Whereas, 1st time I studied quant almost exclusively.
This time around I also read throught the
MGMAT, the timing strategies for quant and verbal in this book were really helpful. I also read through
MGMAT number properties book and did all of the problems. This really helped my understanding of number properties. But, I think it would have helped if I would have went through this book twice. I also read through the Kaplan Verbal workbook and all of the problems. Although, in this one month time period I did not get a chance to revisit any of the other
MGMAT math books like Foundations of GMAT Math or Word Translations. My
MGMAT prep tests indicate I need that I am most in need of a better understanding of probability, geometry, and statistics. I should have known that my real test results would end up around 640 because most of my
MGMAT prep tests that I took over the past month resulted in a score of 640.
Having said all of that, I want to ask bb do you have any advice on what I should do from here to improve my score? I don't know if I will be taking GMAT a third time. But, would having my
MGMAT prep tests reset help? Also, would keeping some sort of
error log help? If so, how do I do that? Thanks!
