Scored an 800 - Denied, now Admitted to HBS!!! [#permalink]

A few months ago, in an effort to boost my GMAT score prior to enrollment at the GSB, I decided to retake the test. I knew I messed up some easy questions on my one previous attempt, so I went for broke.

And...what do you know...at the end, the score popped up - 800! I know since some people will want the facts, it was 51Q, 50V at the Prometric testing facility on 20 N. Clark, in Chicago.

So, I waited for the official score report to arrive. On a whim, I decided to call up the HBS admissions office, and told them about my achievement. They didn't seem too interested at first, but they said they'd take it into consideration, even though they had already denied me admission.

Five days later (last Friday), an admit package arrived at my doorstep! I was absolutely floored.

What's more, my local newspaper just published an article today about it! Read it here!

Ahhhh, you guys are too sharp!

I was hoping for at least ONE reply that didn't click the link, and asked for something like a barometer reading or blood sample for verification.

Come on, we all know an 800 is like the unicorn or the tooth fairy. It doesn't exist.

Besides, if you scored an 800 and were denied admission, I'd suggest you retake the gmat.

HAHAHA! Good one... I learned not to trust anyone on this day... I feel bad for those who get a call from Stanford (like kwam) or other schools today. :P

I knew something was fishy when IrishFan said 51Q 50V, since that would be a 790.

anyways, a 800 score is more a reason to get dinged at top schools!!!!!! You would have probably had me if you had said it was a 790!
