Should I postpone the date? [#permalink]

Hi,

I have taken 26/May/12 as the date for GMAT exam & been preparing for it.However, am feeling now that my prep is not sufficient to take the exam on above date. The main reason for that is weak maths. Also, due to some personal problem , couldn't devote much time to studies last week. Though time is not an issue now(have ample time to study now),I feel 35 days to go is too less!!I am still struggling with basics whereas I should be taking practice tests now.Am contemplating of postponing the date by 2 months (i.e in August). My target score is 650-700 whereas it was 420 in my 1st prep test. Please advice.

I would postpone but also don't lose the motivation and urgency in your prep since if you slow down after you postpone you will be in the same position in August. Make yourself a structured study plan and stick with it. Once you have taken at least 3-4 practice tests within range of your target score then you can feel confident to move forward with the test.

Taking the test when your not ready and getting a low score might demotivate you later on.

Good luck!

Take it when you feel totally prepared but do set a timeline.
You should have solid basics so ensure you put in sufficient time. For 700, you will need good basics and good application. Try another prep test 15 days later and if your score isn't up to your expectations, consider postponing the test.
