Here, since implies duration (time). It is necessary to have either past perfect tense or present perfect tense in the main clause.

A. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players controlled the MP3 device market

It is in simple past - incorrect

B. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players controls the MP3 device market

It is in simple present - incorrect

C. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players has controlled the MP3 device market

Present perfect tense - Correct

D. The iPod line of digital music players is controlling the MP3 device market since 2005

Present continuous tense - incorrect

E. The iPod line of digital music players has been in control of the MP3 device market since 2005

Here present perfect tense is used in the main clause but sentence is incorrect

So I go for option C.

"Since" is always followed by past perfect tense. Thus, C is the only right option.

There might be a typo, please check. It should be present perfect tense.

Here we have a particular time interval from which an effect has started. The effect is being realized in present time also. So, the best form of tense is Present Perfect tense.
Again, the subject of this sentence is "the iPod line" which is singular and needs a singular verb.

Quote:
A. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players controlled the MP3 device market
Wrong Verb form. Rejected.

Quote:
B. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players controls the MP3 device market
Wrong verb form. Rejected.

Quote:
C. Since 2005, the iPod line of digital music players has controlled the MP3 device market
Correct.

Quote:
D. The iPod line of digital music players is controlling the MP3 device market since 2005
Wrong verb form. Rejected.

Quote:
E. The iPod line of digital music players has been in control of the MP3 device market since 2005
Wrong intended meaning. Rejected.

So, C is the correct answer.
