B - resumptive modifier has to be used to resolve ambiguity. In the rest of the options(apart from B and E) the plural pronoun might refer to manufacturers or planes.

E awkward construction.

'Smooth' goes for wings and works as adjective. Use of adjective as an adverb is always wrong. In A smoothly is an adjective. Therefore, A is wrong and B is correct.

In A "smoothly" is an adverb modyfing "shaped".

Why is that wrong? Why "smooth" has to be an adjective modyfing wings and not an adverb explaining how the wings were shaped? (the wings were shaped smoothly...).

Thanks.

In C: " that are" is wrong tense
E is awkward as mailnawin1 said.

That leaves B as correct answer?
