Skeptics propose that many eyewitnesses have mistaken an ordinary animal or even a floating inanimate object as the Loch Ness monster.

A. as the Loch Ness Monster
B. for the Loch Ness Monster
C. with the Loch Ness Monster
D. as being the Loch Ness Monster
E. for being the Loch Ness Monster

The correct idiom is "Mistake for" and not "Mistaken as" or "Mistaken with".
So A, C and D are out.

Between B & E, "Mistaken for being" is incorrect since "you can be mistaken for someone" and not "mistaken for being someone".

So IMO B is the correct answer.

Hey Experts,

Someone can please give me correct used idioms list which are frequent in GMAT. I have seen many questions are straight forward only based on correct use of idioms. Being non-native speaker I find difficulty to distinguish correct use of idioms.

It will much appreciated.
