IMO "A"
So far gives a hint of ongoing process --> From the past until now, no evidences have been found.
Thus "Present perfect tense" is perfect in this context.

--> correctly uses present perfect .So far represent something is going on
B. So far, no pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life were found

C. So far, no pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life are found

D. No pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life are being found, so far

E. No pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life had been found, so far

So far, no pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life have been found.

The context of this sentence tells that we have not found any evidence proving extraterrestrial life till now. This context tells us that the process is still going on from a specific period in the past and we are still trying to find out one.
So, considering the meaning of this sentence present perfect tense is a perfect choice.
Hence, A is the answer.


A. So far, no pieces of evidence pointing to extraterrestrial life have been found - Correct
