3x^2(x-2)-x+2 / x-2

(3x^2(x-2)-x+2) / (x-2)
(3x^3-6x^2-x+2) / (x-2)
(3x^2-1)(x-2) / (x-2)
3x^2-1

sorry for the misinterpretation

Yes - that's what I meant - sorry I should have added the brackets.

Thanks for the explanation. I got to step 2, but then failed to factor out the (x-2) from the top.
