This sentence presents a claim that producing a television program in Europe costs much more than purchasing the rights to a television program produced in the United States. The underlined portion of the sentence is part of a complex noun phrase that must be worded clearly, succinctly, and idiomatically.

Option A: It is unidiomatic to write the producing in place of the production.

Option B: Correct. This wording is clear and succinct, and uses the term production correctly and idiomatically.

Option C: The phrase the financing of is an unnecessarily wordy substitute for financing. The phrase the producing an hour-long domestic program is unidiomatic and ungrammatical.

Option D:The phrase the cost of what it costs is incoherently redundant.

Option E: The phrase the cost of what the cost is for is incoherently redundant and verbose.

The correct answer is B.

some noun has form of doing but it is a noun which can go with
1. "the/a", the learning is good
2, possessive, my learning is good
3, plural, these learningS are good
4, prepositional phrase, the learning of this counry is good
for example, learning is a pure noun. 'learning" has a separate item in dictionary.



in contrast, doing as a participle or gerund dose not have above characteristic.
'the producing a program' is wrong. direct object 'program' shows that 'producing is gerund or participle but not a noun, and so, 'the" is wrong in choice C

in choice A, the noun "producing" dose not exist in english. so , 'the producing' is wong. 'learning" exist in dictionary as a separate
