 Analysts Not Analysts Total MBA x/3 2x/3 x No MBA y/4 Total 2x/3 50 y

We are asked for the value of x.

From the table: 2x/3 = y - 50
y - 50 + (y/4) = 50
5y/4 = 100
y = 80

2x/3 = 80 - 50 = 30

x = 90/2 = 45

Hello Vyshak

Can you please explain how you get to:

y - 50 + (y/4) = 50
5y/4 = 100
y = 80

Thank you

2x/3 + y/4 = 50
We know that 2x/3 is y - 50

We get the above result by substituting y - 50 for the value of 2x/3.

Hi
How come the value of Not Analysts with MBA be 2x/3.
There is nothing as such mentioned about that??

hi..
the Q talks about hedge workers..
x of them have done MBA....
Quote:
A total of x hedge fund workers have an MBA.

x/3 analyst have MBA
Quote:
Furthermore, x/3 analysts have an MBA

so remaining MBA are NOT analysts = $$x-\frac{x}{3}=\frac{2x}{3}$$
