Some part of the 50% solution of acid was replaced with the equal amount of 30% solution of acid. As a result, 40% solution of acid was obtained. What part of the original solution was replaced?

* $$\frac{3}{4}$$
* $$\frac{4}{5}$$

In the old solution you had two parts of the 50% solution (out of possible two) - in the new solution the you have only one part out of two - meaning you replaced 50% of the solution or 1/2.
