Work = rate * time

rate ( B) = 12/4 = 3 m/hr

rate (J) = 12/3 = 4 m/hr

12 =7 * t

T = 12/7

Let the total work be 12 units (LCM of 3 & 4)

Efficiency of Bill = 3units/hour
Efficiency of Joe = 4 units/hour

Total efficiency of Bill & Joe is = 7 units/hour

Total Time required to complete digging the ditch is $$\frac{12}{7}$$, Answer must be (C)
