should be 'sort' , singular comparison of nature

HI,
I am confused with the usages regarding sort/sorts.

Can anyone please explain when to use sort and when to use sorts.
If you can explain both the usages with examples it will be really helpful .

I think the answer will be A, because in;
A. for rosemary, parsley, thyme, and these sort of herbs: each noun is correctly mentioned and with good flow of sentence and also all punctuation are correct.

B. for: rosemary; parsley; thyme; and these sort of herbs. There is clearly error of punctuation.

C. for rosemary, parsley, thyme, and these sorts of herbs. It has error with forms because it used plural form of sorts.

D. for rosemary, parsley, thyme, and this sorts of herbs. Same error.

E. for rosemary, parsley, thyme, and these sorts of herb. Same error.

Correct answer is A.

Official Explanation

The plural demonstrative adjective these should not be paired with the singular noun sort, as it is in option A. Instead, it should be used with the plural noun sorts, making choice C the best answer. Option B duplicates the original error of agreement and compounds the problem with incorrect use of semicolons to separate words in a list that do not contain internal punctuation. Answer choice D reverses the error by pairing a singular demonstrative adjective (this) with a plural noun (sorts). Finally, option E shows a different error of agreement: plural these sorts with the singular herb.

Answer: C
