Kudos to detailed explained answers. Please pick one and solve. Please choose if you'll be using substitution or combination.

31. X-Y=4
2x+Y=5

33. A+B=8
2A+B=13

35. Y-2x-1=0
X-3y-1=0

37. 5x+2y=12
Y=1/2x+3

Hi,

31. X-Y=4 -----a
2x+Y=5 ----b

Now, 2X-2Y = 8 for a
2X+Y=5

Subtracting these two equations,
3Y = -3
Y= -1
Hence, X = 4+Y =4-1 => 3

33. A+B=8 ----c
2A+B=13 -----d

d - c => A =5, Hence B=8-A=> 3

35. Y-2x-1=0 ----e
X-3y-1=0 ---- f

Multiply equation f by 2 and adding with e

2X - 6Y -2 =0
-2X + Y -1 =0
---------------------------
-5Y - 3 =0
Hence, Y= -3/5
Putting values of Y either in e or f, we get X= -4/5

37. 5x+2y=12
Y=1/2x+3

Please clarify whether it is 1/(2x) + 3 or 1 / (2x+3).
