what device you are trying to connect to?

It shouldn't matter... its a wireless connection. Worked fine for ages, all of a sudden it flakes out on me like this. Driving me bonko. Not sure what else to try.

Inbuilt Wi-fi ? or PCMCIA wifi adapter ?

If it's inbuilt wi-fi , dont waste time and get a wifi adapter

My HP wifi died after a drop and repeated attempts to fix it( tech support/forums ) didnt work either

I got the same message using my IBM T42. My network card is still working flawlessly however.

I noticed that when you turn on the "Routing and Remote Access" service on, ipconfig works again. But the issue is still a mystery to me.

Did you update the drivers and other software through "thinkvantage", lenovo's update utility? I did that recently and I think I started seeing this problem after the updates.

Unless you have a winsock or virus issue like this page (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Network ... 60542.html) suggests, it may be a driver issue.

Let me know if you run into anything more enlightening.

Yea I found all that stuff online too but havent been able to fix it. I'm resigned to a re-install.
