hi shruti,
E is correct. I was confused between A and E and finally chose A, since i thought the market share went down so the plan would not work. what's your explanation for E?

OUt of A and E,E attacks the argument directly talking about sales.
A also attacks but indirectly does so by talking about the shares.
Thus E is preferred

Hi Shruti,

Conclusion: Production should be increased
Premise: Total telephone sales of telephones (NOT MAMMOTH INDUSTRIES) have increased.

Be careful to notice info about the telephone sales of the industry as a whole is given. If we can show that Mammoth Industry is an exception. has not increased its sale inspite of industry wide increase, we can weaken the argument and explain why plan (increasing production)should not be undertaken.

A: Tells us that inventory of Mammoth Ind is 0 thereby implying that Mammoth sold most of its inventory. Therefore it strongly srengthens why the plan to increase production should be undertaken.
B. Also strengthens by saying that avg inventory declined
C. Not related/Out of scope
D: Strengthens again
E: Weakens. Tells us that although the telephone industry sales have increased, Mammoth Industry was an exception whose sale did not increase.

Hope this helps!!!
Cheers
Turbo Jet
