Definitely follow-up with an email "thank you." Search old threads here for the reasons why you shouldn't do postal mail (basically because you want them to get the "thank you" ASAP before they write up their review of your interview).

E-mail note, right away (within 24hs).

Unless, of course, you forgot to ask for your interviewer's e-mail and had forgot her last name so don't feel like calling the scholl and going: "um, yeah, err... my name is lepium and I was interviewed yesterday by this really nice lady whose name I've forgotten and I wanted to send her a thank you note". In that case, just don't send the note, you'll get admitted anyway. 8-)
