Not sure but E?

The "is more of suggests that the latter pat has to be present tense. Also we need both parts of the sentences to be in active voice.

Event X "is" ... than Y "is" ..

A/B: being a woman - passive - doesn't go with first part
C - definitely funny - incorrect - apple vs orange comparison
D - past tense
E - CORRECT

It should be 'E'.

Only 'E' is parallel!

"new MD is more of a landmark than that she is a woman."

Your logic is perfect giddi, then why doubt???

Thanks vivek. When I was in high school my grammat teacher use to mention that ENGLISH IS A MONKEY LANGUAGE. There are more exceptions than rules.

I find that more than half of the times LOGIC does not work. I am still learning the GMATical rules.

I must comment that your questions and participation/discussion here has helped me (and definitely other GMAT clubbers) a lot and encouraged me to solve more SCs from the 1000's collection.

OA is E...Somehow I didn't look at the tense correctly and picked D.

I go with (E). We're doing a comparison here: "is X than is Y." (A) lacks parallelism, (B) and (C) are awkward, (D) suggests that she's presently a man while in the past she was a woman.
