number vs. amount

the number is correct since stimuli are countable.

But is it correct?

stimuli is a plural of a stimulus.

One stimulus
Two stimuli
Three stimuli
...............

The nearly infinite number of stimuli

Hey check your typing. in the original one (not in choice 1), comma after comprehense is clearly wrong, 2 correct it
