The critically acclaimed film Agent Vinod, by replacing the tack from Bollywood capers with story and spectacle, became the first Hindi film on modern day espionage, and it was only the second that came to be known for the ambition of an Indian director.

A) it was only the second that came to be known for the ambition of an Indian director
B) it was only the second that an ambitious Indian director produced
C) the second one only that an ambitious Indian director produced
D) the second one only produced by an ambitious Indian director
E) only the second to be known for the ambition of an Indian director

The correct answer is E but I am not understanding one thing.Comma+ and is followed by an independent clause but here in option E -
only the second to be known for the ambition of an Indian director-(what only the second)
is not an independent clause and does not contain a subject.

A) it was only the second that came to be known for the ambition of an Indian director-----came to be known--too wordy
B) it was only the second that an ambitious Indian director produced-----says the previous directors are not ambitious
C) the second one only that an ambitious Indian director produced-------says the previous directors are not ambitious
D) the second one only produced by an ambitious Indian director---------it says it is the 2nd movie "only" produced by ...only modifies "produced"
E) only the second to be known for the ambition of an Indian director----------correct
