I chose D correctly. However, I am not sure about the reason for eliminating A. I deleted A because I thought "Which" is redundant

Which is used with comma and as an non-essential clause when used to modify the preceding noun or noun phrase.

here, "a lecture series which discusses life among early human"..... which (though not used with comma, precisely to be used as In which - if comma is not to be used) , this case participle is necessary to modify the lecture series.

IMO D is the perfect one

a) which discusses life among early human tribes, suggests that hunting and foraging groups be viewed as distinct from agricultural communities, rather than as part of a continuum

b) discussing life in early human tribes, suggests hunting and foraging groups should be viewed distinctly from agricultural communities, rather than continuously

c) that discusses life in early human tribes, suggest that hunting and foraging groups are distinct from agricultural communities, rather than as part of a continuum

d) discussing life in early human tribes, suggests that early hunting and foraging groups and agricultural communities be viewed as distinct, rather than as parts of a continuum

e) discussing life among early human tribes, suggested to view hunting and gathering groups as distinct from agricultural communities, rather than in a continuum

In my opinion

Gatheres series is singular it should be suggests in compariosn to suggest

So C & E Eliminated

A : Suggest is for future proceedings so discusses ( present) is not required

B & D : B Changes the emaning by using continusly

D is better choice

The Gatherers, a lecture series which discusses life among early human [#permalink]
The main issue in A apart from 'which' is meaning!
a) which discusses life among early human tribes, suggests that hunting and foraging groups be viewed as distinct from agricultural communities, rather than as part of a continuum
hunting and foraging groups be viewed as distinct from agricultural communities fine......but rather than as part of a continuum is not fine!
distinct should be compared or should be parallel to continuum not the 'agricultural communities'!

d) discussing life in early human tribes, suggests that early hunting and foraging groups and agricultural communities be viewed as distinct, rather than as parts of a continuum
This is precisely telling us 'hunting and foraging groups' and 'agricultural communities' were viewed as 'distinct' rather than as parts of 'continuum'.
'distinct' vs 'continuum' is correct!

B) suggests hunting and foraging groups should be viewed -- Subjuctive verb should have been used therefore 'should' is incorrect.
C) The Gatherers ,.....suggest - SV agreement error
E) Main verb is missing....suggested is not the verb it's the modifier.

A vs D

A) uses a relative clause "which discusses life among early human tribes" to provide additional information about the lecture series. However, it lacks clarity because it seems to suggest that the lecture series itself discusses life among early human tribes, which may not be the intended meaning. Additionally, the use of "which" creates ambiguity in this context and is wrongly used here.

D) clarifies that the lecture series suggests viewing both early hunting and foraging groups and agricultural communities as distinct, which aligns with the intended meaning. It also maintains proper verb agreement by using "be" with "groups" and "communities," ensuring grammatical correctness.
