Ans is C mainly due to the S-V agreement of 'one the traditions that have been' -- That points to the plural -traditions-.

A. has been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because the players of New Zealand's rugby team perform it before every international game -- SVA issue, "traditions" should take plural verb

B. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because the players of New Zealand's rugby team performs it before every international game -- players perform (not performs) SVA issue

C. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the dance is performed by the New Zealand rugby team -- CORRECT, SVA issue fixed

D. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the team of New Zealand's rugby players perform it -- team is singular, should take singular "performs" as verb

E. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the New Zealand team of rugby players perform it -- same as D

The answer is C

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

The Haka war dance is one of the traditions that has been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because the players of New Zealand's rugby team perform it before every international game.

A. has been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because the players of New Zealand's rugby team perform it before every international game

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. The relative clause that has been preserved by the Maori people until today describes the noun that appears immediately before it, namely, traditions. Since traditions follows the words one of the and is plural, the verb that follows it also needs to be plural. However, has is singular.

What helps us identify this question as a Relative Clause question as well as identify the mistake is the following Stop Sign: one of the + plural noun + who/which/that

Whenever you see this Stop Sign, make sure that the following verb is plural.

B. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because the players of New Zealand's rugby team performs it before every international game

Although this answer choice corrects the original Relative Clause error by using the plural verb have, it is grammatically incorrect.

The phrase players of New Zealand's rugby team is an X of Y subject. In such cases, the verb should agree with X (players), which is plural. However, the verb performs is singular.

What helps us identify this question as a Subject Verb Agreement question as well as identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign: The subject is in the form of X of Y

C. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the dance is performed by the New Zealand rugby team

The relative clause that has been preserved by the Maori people until today describes the noun that appears immediately before it, namely, traditions. This answer choice corrects the original Relative Clause error by using the plural verb have.

D. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the team of New Zealand's rugby players perform it

Although this answer choice corrects the original Relative Clause error by using the plural verb have, it is grammatically incorrect.

The phrase team of New Zealand's rugby players is an X of Y subject. In such cases, the verb should agree with X (team), which is singular. However, the verb perform is plural.

What helps us identify this question as a Subject Verb Agreement question as well as identify this mistake is the following Stop Sign: The subject is in the form of X of Y

E. have been preserved by the Maori people until today, probably because before every international game, the New Zealand team of rugby players perform it

The phrase New Zealand team of rugby players is an X of Y subject. In such cases, the verb should agree with X (team), which is singular. However, the verb perform is plural.
