D would b my choice...

the question here is about two things...oone the children were norn with heart = defects...or two the women had mis-carraiges...

and also the use of '' have had'' is very essential cos ''three years ago'' it took place...

and D is the choice that well explains the problem and corrects it...

either have had mis.... or had children..... ; none of the pregnancies wa....''

hope that helps !

Have fun

D has 'to have had miscarriages...or to have borne children' which sounds better than 'to have had miscarriages or children born...'

I don't think I am wrong here (hint: Seach tool)

abi,

with "or" , you don't need to repeat "have had". E seems to be the
best answer. D is wrong because it uses "have" instead of either not
using anything or using "have had"....
