I would go with E since 'to be' tells us that it is still believed

Please shed some light - explanation for this answer.

I go with A as it was concise and clear to the point but amaze by OA ..C ?

We can def. ruled out D, E as we are not sure about what does 'which' referes..(chile or earthquake)

Let's do POE
D is syntactically wrong
E - which refers what?
If A is right, then so can B - believed to be sounds present tense
If we do that, then we are left with C - It goes like the earthquake in 1960 which was of magnitude 9.5 - now there might not have been any proof or something like that - and so " it is believed to have been"

So C it is by POE!

The huge earthquake that occurred in Chile in 1960, had a magnitude of 9.5, believed to be the largest earthquake the world has ever seen.

I have a doubt with option C. Does not "and it is believed.." leave non-underlined part fragmented. Or the "," before had is typo?

Pls help!!

Hello Amit bawa,

We hope this finds you well.

Having gone through the question and your query, we believe we can help resolve your doubt.

Option C does not form a sentence fragment; the application of this answer choice forms a "comma + conjunction ("and" in this case)" construction with the non-underlined comma and the underlined "and" that C begins with. This construction correctly joins the independent clauses "The huge earthquake that occurred in Chile in 1960, had a magnitude of 9.5" and "it is believed to have been the largest earthquake the world has ever seen".

We hope this helps.
All the best!
