A. Which is never used as a restrictive modifier, we need that..
D and E

Lack of parallelism

How?

Has led to -past hence * ing is incorrect

C-we need a modifier such as "that"

Choose B

Correct modifer and parallelsim of "orginated" and "perpetuated"

IMO B....since we have "increased"....originated and perpetuated is required for ||ism, therefore A, D and E out, out of B and C I will go with B since there is no comma and we need connector like "that" or "which".

"Which" is out because of no comma....so go with B

IMO D.

Note that "perpetuated" is not a verb in this sentence!
It is an adjective, describing "regional dialects, language variations".

A, B, C use "originate" in verb form, though what we need is an adjective for parallelism.

E is out because 'perpetuating by' is awkward.

By the way, "The increased popularity and availability of televisions has led ...is this correct?

i have had this doubt earlier...which is better...using relative pronoun+ simple verb modifer("that originated") or adjectival for "originating"?
secondly, do we need restrictive modifier here "that" for regional dialects?

so, you mean to say in D, "Orginating" is an adjective.

Okie guys,

D

"Orginating" and "perpetuated" are actually parallel to each other

How?

One is present particple and other is past participle

and they parallel also in meaning

"Orginating means getting new life" Beginning of life

"perpetuate means preserving from extinction ie end of life"

It looks greek when explained. But read the explanation of a similar qtn

OG 11. eg. 39

Its very much similar to "spawned" and "extending"

( spawned meant something in the past and extending meant something that still continued onto the present)

(E) originating from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages and perpetuating

D. for llism.

My rule:- When the question has such llism issue, I would chose the first with "-ing" and the second with "-ed" or vice versa.
