D

Since whoever is needed because the verb is linked to ' whoever' and whoever is acting as a subject, eliminate A,B and C.

Further, Joneses is plural, so 'their' is required.

why option E is wrong .
Please explain the use of their pasture .

I don't think such distinctions would be tested on the GMAT. But their is better than 'the' the should have been used to point to a specific pasture.

Experts please comment.

IMHO


Who threw the toxic leaves? he did/she did/they did

Whoever over whomever

Options D and E.

Joneses would be more concerned about their pasture. The possessive pronoun correctly refers back to Joneses.
