Hi srjaidev, to your question, I check GMATclub a few times a week, so not the most active user here probably. But do let us know if you have questions about LBS! Will gladly answer as much as I can. Great to also have BSD around to help as well.

You are right that your academics may be your weak spot in your application. With no offense, but the majority of successful Indian applicants probably score above 700 on the GMAT. Many also come from IIT or were close to the top of their class. Your accounting degrees may help offset this, though I'm not familiar with their scoring. Another weakness may be during your work ex from 2005-2008, where it appears that you may not have progressed that much (at least from what you write in your post).

Having said that, please don't be discouraged at all from applying. Your work ex in the past 2 years is very solid and you also have good extracurricular activities! Great that you founded Virutcham, sounds like an interesting organisation!

Apologies for the late reply.. Thanks for your comments.. I am working on my applications and applying in R1..

Thanks srjaidev! good luck for you too

By the way, for all who are applying in round 1, please be aware that the deadline is still October 6 (and not 8th as was stated in an email on Friday)

Dear xxxx,

We sent you an email on Friday sharing the stories and experiences of some of our recently graduated MBA students - we hope you enjoyed listening to them.

We would like to apologise for the incorrect application deadline that was in this email, and for any confusion this may have caused.

If you would like to apply in our first admissions stage, please ensure you submit your application by Wednesday 06 October 2010.

Good luck to everybody

A comparison between Wharton and LBS. I think the comments under the post are actually super useful especially if you are looking for points that make LBS unique :

MBA (Full-time) Status Submitted

I just submitted my application .

However, be careful guys. With this new online application system you application is submitted before it asks you to pay. In fact, I thought I could review everything before clicking in "pay" and it was already submitted.

Then I verified it, found a mistake and it was too late. In fact I started a job in December 2009 and I put December 2008...

Do you think I should email them right away?

In my opinion you should. No of months you have worked counts towards your work experience and these guys are very sensitive about that information.

I am really having difficulty in opening the link to the online application form for LBS. IT just doesn't open at all. and I have trying to do so since 23rd of this month but of no avail. Is it just me ot is there really a problem with the link connected to the online application system. In any case I will be applying in R2.

...Although confident that I can convince the adcom that I have all the qualities for a good manager, I am fearful of my poor GPA. Yeah, I am aware of the optional essay, but
3) do they give alot of importance to the GPA of a younger applicant? Can a really good GMAT score (~750) and a good optional essay give them the confidence that I can cope with the tough curriculum?

I'm in a similar situation to you in the sense that I too have a low undergrad GPA. Thinking as an adcom, I would see a 750 and know you have the brains, but seeing a low undergrad GPA I might wonder about your level of discipline and endurance. Since your work experience is not yet long enough to show good career progression (discipline and endurance) then I would want to see a good reason for a low-undergrad GPA that is limited to undergrad and wont be with you going forward.

In my case I have a 7 year career progression with good forward movement, so I'm concerned about the opposite of you. I'm concerned they may be unconvinced of my brains aspect, so I took some graduate extension courses to augment my GMAT and GPA.

I think you'll need a good optional essay more than a 750 GMAT, though the 750 certainly wont hurt.

I am also kind of sailing in the same boat. I have low undergrad CGPA. But I have managed to offset that GPA by doing a one year advanced course in Industrial management and Logistics and secured a CGPA of 4.6/5. The curriculum mostly consisted of quantitative and logistics.

Here is my profile:
28 years/Male/ Indian
Post Grad Specialization: Industrial management and Logistics, Finland
Total Work Ex: 4 years straight: Same Company Product development Engineer R&D
International Work Ex: 3 years 5 months- Finland
GMAT: Yet to take (confident of scoring 700+)

What do you think are my chances if my essays along with the recommendation form are good. I will be applying in R2.

I'm curious to know how people responded to the following two questions:

Have you told your employer that you're applying?

Is it ok to say no!?
